The Impact of Immigration/Refugees on Our Community:
Dispelling the Myth

Somewhere around 25% of the population of the Village of Mamaroneck is of immigrant origin -- individuals, families, and children born outside the United States. A majority are citizens or legal residents, a significant number are unauthorized, others are refugees or asylees. The question of how, and even whether, to receive these new arrivals and then provide for them often generates intense, politicized debate. Frank Pierson of Neighbors for Refugees and Jirandy Martinez of the Community Resource Center will discuss this very important topic.
