New York State Senator George Latimer

In a presentation filled with local history and detail, New York State Senator George Latimer reported that there is no easy solution to local high property taxes. Speaking to the Local Summit on September 17, Senator Latimer said that, in the absence of legislative action, the public needs to consider making make tough decisions about the services we are receiving.

It might be useful to also look at the decline of tied homes in rural communities. Bert lives in one, as does Will - but most others in Ambridge are gone. Low agricultural wages plus lack of housing are cause serverev problems in rural communities.
